Sandwich Saturday

A mixed meat and cheese stuffed baguette or ciabatta.


  • 1 10-12" Hard crusted bread, baguette or ciabatta
  • 1/4 lb Boiled or baked ham
  • 1/4 lb Soft Salami or Sopressa
  • 1 cup Iceberg lettuce shredded
  • 1 cup Giardiniera mix (in jar) chopped
  • 2-3 tbls Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 lb Swiss cheese
  • 1 Ripe tomato
  • Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste


  1. Shred and chop the iceberg lettuce and the giardiniera, in a bowl mix both with mayonnaise, add salt and pepper to taste

  2. Cut the bread in half, open and scoop the middle out of the deeper of the two halves create a well

  3. Fill the well of the bread with the lettuce giardiniera mayo mixture, on top of this start layering the ham, salami, and the Swiss cheese.

  4. Slice the tomato, add salt and pepper, and close with the other piece of bread

  5. Wrap the sandwich tightly with press and seal or plastic wrap.  Then cut with a serrated knife through the plastic into as many pieces as you like.   The sandwich will hold its shape inside of the wrapping.
