Cauliflower with Olives and Pepper Garlic Crumbs

Cauliflower with Olives and Pepper Garlic Crumbs, this easy recipe takes the versatile cauliflower to another taste experience.  So easy to put together, while the cauliflower is cooking,  the peppered crumb mixture can be prepared so it is ready to mix with the warm cauliflower.  One of my favorite side dishes, this recipe works equally as well with broccoli.  This dish can be served hot, but tastes even better if the cauliflower sits  in the garlic spicy breadcrumbs at room temperature where all these flavors meld together.  Cauliflower with Olives and Pepper Garlic Crumbs a wonderful winter side, let’s cook!

  • Fresh hot red pepper or dried hot pepper flakes to taste

  1. Break the cauliflower into florets,  place in a large pot, fill with cold water covering the cauliflower, add sea salt and bring to boil, cook until the cauliflower florets holds their, shape but are soft, about 10 minutes.  Test with a fork

  2. While cauliflower is cooking using a small non-stick skillet, add the olive oil, chop the hot pepper into tiny pieces, add to the oil. Peel and using a garlic press, crush the garlic cloves into the oil, chop the olives and add them to the oil.  On a lively heat, medium, heat the oil and let watch carefully as the garlic, olives and peppers cook,  when the garlic starts to become a light golden brown add the breadcrumbs to the oil and stir together until the breadcrumbs brown, careful not to burn the crumbs.  Take off the heat, let sit until the cauliflower is cooked

  3. Drain the cauliflower, in a bowl while still hot, add the oil crumb mixture, carefully stir, mixing the cauliflower and crumbs.  Serve hot or at room temperature
